Founded in 1913, Casa Macario [House Macarius] at the north end of Rua Augusta has a large selection of vintage Port, tea, coffee and chocolate. The downtown district, called the Baixa, was rebuilt after the 1755 quake in what for Portugal is a rare gridiron pattern. Many old-fashioned stores such as Casa Macario, as well as modern international chains, line the streets.
A trip to Lisbon, Portugal to visit some of the buildings the city has to offer. This was my first time to the city, which I was visiting with other architecture students whilst studying for my masters degree.
